逮捕から亡命生活へ
1939年～1954年。
これは、ココ・シャネルがファッションデザインを引退してからカムバックするまでの期間なのですが、この間のことは、多くが謎とされています。
しかし、ポール・イリブの影響を受けて以来、親ドイツ的な政治思想であったようで、ドイツ人の愛人との関係も噂されました。
1940年には、ハンス・ギュンター・フォン・ディンクラージというドイツ人将校と恋仲に、またその後はナチスの諜報機関局長ヴァルター・シェレンベルクと愛人関係になりました。
このようなドイツ人との交際で、ココは「売国野郎」と非難されます。
1944年にフランスがドイツ軍から解放されると、ココはシャルル・ド・ゴール率いる自由フランス軍に逮捕されました。
この時、かねてから友人関係にあったイギリスの首相チャーチルが特別な取り計らいをし、ココはすぐに釈放されましたが、彼女はその後スイスに亡命し、そこで10年余り過ごします。
2011年、アメリカで「Sleeping with the Enemy」（邦題：誰も知らなかったココ・シャネル）という本が発売され、ココがドイツのスパイだったことが明らかにされました。
その本の信ぴょう性のほどはさておき、空白の15年間の間で、対独協力に関わる活動をしていたことは、ある程度事実のようです。
このことが、後に彼女がファッション業界にカムバックする際に大きな障害になります。

Arrest and a Life in Exile
1939 - 1954.
This is the period from a time when Coco Chanel retired from fashion industry to a time when she came back, but many things in this period are considered as mysteries.
On the other hand, since she was influenced by Paul Iribe, it seemed that she had a German political thought, and the relationship with German lover was also rumored.
In 1940, she became the lover of German intelligence officer Baron Hans Gunther von Dinklage and also after that, she was in a romantic relationship with Nazi SS Spymaster Walter Schellenberg.
Interacted with Germans, Chanel was condemned as a traitor.
Once France was released from the German army in 1944, Chanel was arrested by the Free French Forces led by Charles de Gaulle.
At this time, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Churchill who had been her friend for a long time made special arrangements, so that Chanel was released immediately. Then she defected to Switzerland and spent more than ten years there.
In 2011, the book "Sleeping with the Enemy" ( Japanese Title: "Daremo Shiranakatta Coco Chanel" ) was released in the USA, and it was revealed that she was a German spy.
Aside from the credibility of the book, it seems a fact to some extent that she carried out activities related to collaboration with Germany during the blank 15 years.
This hindered her comeback to the fashion industry afterward.
