修道女学校にて
18歳になったガブリエル・シャネルは、孤児院を後にしてムーランにある修道女学校に進みました。
もっともそれは彼女が望んだ道ではなく、孤児院の方針によるものです。
女学校では、彼女は以前よりもましな面とより一層嫌な面の両方を体験します。
良かったことは、彼女の叔母アドリエンヌが同じ寄宿舎にいたことです。
この二人は意気投合し、休暇も共に過ごしました。
ガブリエルが女学校で最も嫌だったことは、お金持ちの学生との差別です。
女学校には、両親がお金を出しているお金持ちの寄宿生と彼女のように孤児院出身の貧乏な寄宿生がいました。
お金持ちグループとの間では常に差別され、彼女はお金がないことに対し、益々嫌悪感を募らせていきます。
但し彼女の場合、全ての憎しみや嫌悪をエネルギーに変え、後の成功の糧にしたので、本当に我慢強く、タフな女性だったのでしょう。
バカンスには何もない田舎の伯母の家で二人で笑いながら過ごし、このことをきっかけに彼女は少しずつ父方の家族と寄りを戻すようになり、楽しい時間を過ごすようになりました。
更に、伯母のファッションへの興味の影響を受けて、ガブリエルもファッションに関心を持つようになり、彼女のデザイナーとしての原点が築かれていきます。
ガブリエルが20歳になると、住み込みでムーランの婦人子供洋品店で働くようになり、社会人として歩み始めます。

At a Convent School
At age eighteen, Gabriel Chanel left the orphanage and went to live in a boarding house set aside for girls in Moulins.
She did not want to go there but it was the policy of an orphanage.
She had better experiences and also worse experiences than before in a girls' school.
A good point was that her aunt Adrienne was in the same boarding-house.
These two got along quite well and spent their vacation together.
What Gabriel was most disgusted with at the girls' school is discrimination against rich students.
There were rich boarding-students whose parents paid their fees and poor boarding-students from an orphanage like her at the girls' school.
There is always discrimination with the rich group, and she became increasingly fed up with the lack of money.
However, in her case, she was patient and a tough woman because all feelings of hatred and disgust were converted to her energy to be sources for her future success.
They spent their vacation, laughing together at the empty aunt's rural house, which made her gradually get back to her paternal family and she came to have a good time.
Furthermore, influenced by her aunt's interest in fashion, Gabriel became interested in fashion, which led to the starting point to be a designer.
At the age of twenty, Gabriel began work as a live-in help in a shop selling clothes for ladies and children in Moulins.
