愛称「ココ」

ステージで歌うことに憧れることになったガブリエルは、カフェ・コンセールの支配人に掛け合い、ステージに立たせてもらえることになりました。

彼女は歌やダンスのレッスンを特に受けたことはありませんでしたが、支配人が彼女の潜在的な可能性に気づいたようです。

彼女は決していい声の持ち主ではありませんでしたが、独特の歌声は結果的に多くの若い男性を魅了することになり、彼女がステージに現れると人々が熱狂するようになりました。

特に彼女が十八番にしていたのが、「トロカデロでココを見たのは誰」という曲で、彼女がその曲を歌うと、観客から「ココ！ココ！」というコールが起こるようになりました。

The Nickname "Coco"

As Gabriel hoped, she made her stage debut singing at a cafe-concert, by negotiating with the manager of the cafe.

She has never taken singing or dancing lessons, but it seems that the manager has noticed her potential.

Although her singing voice was marginal, a distinctive singing voice eventually fascinated many young men. Once she appeared on the stage, the audiences became enthusiastic.

Especially, when she sang her best song "Qui qu'a vu Coco dans le Trocadero?", with which she became identified, the audience called out "Coco! Coco!" to give her a cheer.

Indeed, Coco derived from this song is the origin of her eternal nickname Coco.

Since she began singing "Qui qu'a vu Coco dans le Trocadero?" on stage, her name has been changed to Coco Chanel from Gabrielle Chanel.

Coco Chanel hoped to achieve success as a singer, but eventually her dream did not come true.

Originally she did not have a talent as a singer and was not good at dancing. It was impossible for her to succeed, no matter how hard she might have tried.

As she gave up her dream to be a singer, she lost her job.
But she had to earn her living.

At last, she lived with the wealthy officer Etienne Varsan as his mistress.
