ココは、カペルと共に暮らしながら、父親からは決して得られなかった愛情に恵まれ、仕事に恵まれ、充実した日々を送っていたことでしょう。
ココの帽子専門店が大繁盛をする一方で、彼女はごく自然な流れに乗り、ファッションデザインに興味を持っていきます。
ココは自分の着心地のいい洋服を自分で作り、着こなしていました。
その洋服は、今まで決して女性が着なかったタイプのもので、コルセットもなければ何重にも下着をつけることも必要としない機能性を重視したスタイルで、たちまち評判になりました。
この当時、ココとカペルは、パリから西に30kmのところにあるリゾート地、ドーヴィルで過ごしていましたが、ドーヴィルの海岸を歩く女性たちは、こぞってココの仕立てる洋服に釘付けになりました。
このようなこともあり、彼女は必然的にファッションブティックをオープンすることになったのです。
1914年にドーヴィルに登場した、ココ初めてのファッションブティック「ガブリエル・シャネル」。
このお店は、コルセットから解放されたいと願っていた当時の女性の願いを反映した洋服を置く店であり、あっという間に大成功を収めました。

Business Expansion into Fashion Design
Arthur Capel gave everything to the young lady Coco Chanel.

Her first fashion boutique "Gabrielle Chanel" in Deauville was opened in 1914.
