ガブリエル・シャネルの生家
ココ・シャネル＝本名ガブリエル・シャネルは、貧しい露天商の父と体の弱い母の元で、1883年8月19日、2番目の娘として生まれました。
生まれたのは、フランス中南部のオーヴェルニュ地方ソミュールにある救済病院です。
父アルベール・シャネルは、自分はいつか成功すると夢見てあちこちを駆け回るところがあり、また女性に対しても非常にだらしない一面を持っていました。
そんなアルベールを母ジャンヌ・ドゥヴォルは深く愛し、いつも彼に夢中でした。
ガブリエルには既に姉のジュリアがいて、ガブリエルの生後、アルフォンス、アントワネット、リュシアンという妹弟も生まれます。
5人の子供のために、母は体に鞭を打って一生懸命働き続けましたが、父は地方に仕事に行きたまに帰ってくる程度。
それでも、ガブリエルは父を深く愛し、いつも父の帰宅を待ちわびていました。
ガブリエルが12歳になる1895年、母が病気で亡くなりました。
それ以後、父が子供5人を養わなくてはならなくなりましたが、アルベールは子育てには関心が持てず、自分の夢を追いかけ、女性と戯れることを選びました。
仕方なく、ガブリエルをはじめとした子供たちは養子に出されたり、孤児院で生活することを余儀なくされたのです。
このことは、ガブリエルの心に大きな影を落とすことになります。
父からの愛を得られず、貧乏だったガブリエルは、憎しみを持って生きることになったのです。

Gabrielle Chanel's Place of Birth
Coco Chanel, whose real name is Gabrielle Chanel, was born as the second daughter on 19 August 1883 to a father, a poor itinerant street vendor and a sickly mother.
She was born in the charity hospital in Saumur, Auvergne in middle and southern part of France.
Her father Albert Chanel had dreamed of his success someday, traveling to and from towns, and also had been a very wanton man.
Her mother Jeanne Devolle deeply loved Albert and was always infatuated with him.
Gabriel already had an older sister Julia, and after the birth of Gabriel, younger siblings Alphonse, Antoinette, Lucian were born.
While her mother had worked her fingers to the bone to raise five children, her father traveled to work in the province and come back home occasionally.
Nevertheless, Gabriel deeply loved his father and had been always waiting for him.
When Gabrielle was 12, her mother died of illness in 1895.
After that, Albert had to feed five children, but he was not interested in raising children, so that he chose to play with women, chasing after his dream.
His children, including Gabriel were inevitably forced to be adopted or live in the orphanage.
It cast a long shadow over Gabriel's heart.
Gabriel was poor and not able to be loved from her father, and she had lived her life with a feeling of hatred.
