ステラ・テナント（Stella Tennant, 1970年12月17日～）

ステラ・テナントは、1998年にシャネルと専属契約を交わしたスコットランド出身のモデルです。

この当時は、クラウディア・シファーが広告塔を務めていましたが、カール・ラガーフェルドが「ステラのほうが時代に合っている」ということでクラウディアを外し、ステラと契約を結んだのです。

この時、品行方正で知られていたクラウディアは激怒し、それ以来クラウディアとステラの間には確執が生まれたと言われています。

実際に、1998年にはスーパーモデルブームが終わりを迎えようとしていました。

リンダ・エヴァンジェリスタやシンディ・クロフォードのようなゴージャスなスターモデルに代わり、ケイト・モスのようなリアルなルックスが台頭し、旧スーパーモデルはファッション業界に居場所を失いつつあったのです。

ステラは、1993年のデビュー当時には鼻にピアスをつけていて、パンクな姿はそれまでの時代とは全く異質のものでした。

しかし、彼女のような個性は非常に新しく、カールはいち早く可能性を見出したのです。

ステラは女性らしさよりも中性的な魅力で、シャネルの魅力を新たに引き出しました。

2000年代に入り一度はモデルを引退しましたが、2002年にカムバックし、それ以来仕事の数を限定しながら活動をしています。

2011年にはシャネルと再契約をし、デンマーク人モデルのフレージャと共に広告を飾っています。
